U is for Utilizing Books to Improve your Writing: My Recommendations

Improving your writing is a journey, an ongoing process. I think back to where I was in terms of my writing skills a few years ago to where I am today, and I can see my improvement. Part of this is thanks to my great Wednesday writers' group, but reading books on the craft of writing has been a great help also. Books on writing are also a more economical way to improve your skills for those of us who may not have the budget to go to a lot of writing conferences and training.

Here are a few of my recommendations:

The First Five Pages: A Writer'S Guide To Staying Out of the Rejection Pile

The First Five Pages: A Writer's Guide to Staying Out of the Rejection Pile by Noah Lukeman

Word Painting: A Guide to Writing More Descriptively

Word Painting: A Guide to Writing More Descriptively by Rebecca McClanahan

Revision & Self-Editing (Write Great Fiction) by James Scott Bell

Revision & Self-Editing by James Scott Bell

Does anyone have any other suggestions?
